Professional Activities

Dr. Rowley is board-certified and active in the disciplines of Neurology, Radiology, and Neuroradiology. He is Chief of MRI for Neuroradiology at UW-Madison, working closely with Medical Physics in the integration of new imaging techniques for clinical trials and practice. He is past-president of the American Society of Neuroradiology and has held executive positions with the Radiologic Society of North America and the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. Dr. Rowley is the author of more than 300 publications with over 17,000 literature citations to his work.

Research Interests

Dr. Rowley has special interests in the areas of brain perfusion, gadolinium applications, and high-resolution structural imaging as applied to vascular diseases and dementia. He has developed a rigorous system for formal review of all volunteer brain MR imaging exams performed at our university to insure unexpected findings are discovered and dealt with in a timely fashion, with over 15,000 volunteer MRIs reviewed to date. He has received funding from the NIH for nearly three decades.
