In celebration of Clinical Trials Day, the UW Clinical Trials Institute is hosting a special event highlighting the importance of Alzheimer’s disease-focused clinical research. Cynthia Carlsson, MD, MS, will be joined by a participant in the AHEAD study, and Art Walaszek, MD, will moderate the discussion. Get insights on research advances, opportunities to participate and researcher and participant perspectives on clinical trials.

The Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller celebration is named after the first African American psychiatrist and a pioneer in Alzheimer’s disease research. It is held annually to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease in the African American community and provide education and resources to encourage a brain healthy lifestyle. Dr. Lisa Barnes, the Alla V. and Solomon Jesmer professor of gerontology and geriatric medicine within the Department of Neurological Sciences at Rush University in Chicago, will present the keynote address.

The 2024 Healthy Living with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) Education Series is designed to help people across Wisconsin live and cope with an MCI diagnosis. Register to attend each program in person throughout the year at one of three locations across Wisconsin in Brown, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, La Crosse or Rock counties. To celebrate Black History Month, the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) and the African Americans Fighting Alzheimer’s in Midlife (AA-FAIM) study have teamed up with Janice Hughes from the Fitchburg Commission on Aging to host a screening of Dr. Charles Taylor's film, “Leaders of Madison’s Black Renaissance.” This event is free and open to all. A Q&A with the film’s producer will immediately follow the viewing.

Join fellow healthcare professionals for the 21st Annual Update in Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias. The two-day program provides health care professionals with updates on best practices in memory and dementia care.

Join National Institute on Aging (NIA) for the "Innovating for Inclusion: Making Clinical Research More Diverse" webinar. Speakers include Shenikqua Bouges, MD, and Taryn James, PhD, from the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. They will offer insights and resources to help support the inclusion of more diverse participants in dementia research.

Free and open to all, this community educational event will offer news about cutting-edge research in Alzheimer's disease and provide information to help people improve brain health and live healthier lives. The Fall Community Conversation will feature University of Wisconsin faculty discussing new treatment options for Alzheimer's disease. The event will begin with a healthy aging resource fair and refreshments and end with a Q&A panel with the evening's presenters.
