The Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) is pleased to announce Jeffrey Nirschl, MD, PhD, as its newest Developmental Project awardee, selected for his project, “Developing Robust, Fair, and Scalable AI for Deep Neuropathology Phenotyping in ADRC.” His project will focus on integrating advanced artificial intelligence (AI) models to enhance neuropathology phenotyping and biomarker research in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), aiming to ensure equitable and generalizable findings. Project funding will commence on April 1, 2025, and last for one year. 

Nirschl is an assistant professor of pathology and the leader of the Neuropathology Core at the Wisconsin ADRC. 

About the Developmental Project Award

The Wisconsin ADRC Developmental Project Award offers up to $120,000 to support a feasibility study targeting Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) research. Proposals may range from basic or biomedical research to translational, epidemiological, caregiving or social behavioral research. Funding is available to all researchers within the University of Wisconsin–Madison, with priority given to early-stage faculty and postdoctoral trainees.
