The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) selected Leonardo Rivera-Rivera, PhD, as a 2021 junior fellow. Wisconsin ADRC congratulates Dr. Rivera-Rivera on the prestigious accomplishment.

Each year, ISMRM awards fellowships to individuals who have made significant contributions to science or education in magnetic resonance. The prestigious recognition is awarded to scientists only within five years of their doctorate and only given to the top 5% of applicants.

Dr. Rivera-Rivera is a neuroimaging scientist in the UW Department of Medicine and Department of Medical Physics and a member of the Sterling Johnson Imaging Lab. His research includes investigating the inter-relationships between cerebrovascular flow dynamics and Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers and clinical stages.

Dr. Rivera-Rivera will present recent research findings as a speaker at the ISMRM annual meeting, held virtually this year May 15-20, 2021.

Dr. Rivera-Rivera is also a 2020 recipient of a 3-year fellowship from the Alzheimer’s Association
