The Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center invites campus researchers to submit their poster abstracts for the 2018 Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Research Day poster session. The call for posters is open to students of all levels, trainees, researchers, and faculty who are involved in basic, translational, clinical, and health services research related to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, aging, and related topics.
Poster abstracts are due Wednesday, February 21, 2018, and can be submitted through online application. Accepted poster presenters will be notified by March 1, 2018.
The poster session will be limited to 28 posters. The top abstract in each trainee level category (undergraduate; graduate student or research specialist; and fellow, post doc, or research scientist) will be invited to give a podium presentation during research day. Awards will be given to the top presenters.
About the event
The Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Research Day will be held March 23, 2018, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Discovery Building on the UW-Madison campus. The keynote speaker will be Howard J. Federoff, MD, PhD, Vice Chancellor, Health Affairs and CEO, UCI Health, for the University of California, Irvine. A nationally renowned clinical and research leader and a groundbreaking investigator for neurological disorders, Dr. Federoff’s research discovered and validated a predictive blood test for those at risk for Alzheimer’s disease.
“Aging, brain, and neurological disease research is taking place in all corners of the UW-Madison campus,” says Dr. Dorothy Farrar-Edwards, UW professor of kinesiology and medicine, and the outreach, recruitment, and education leader in the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. “Our annual research day is a place where young investigators can showcase their work to a large gathering of scientists and forge relationships with other aging and dementia researchers at the UW.”
The Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Research Day is an annual event designed to encourage collaboration and promote scientific thought among faculty, students, and researchers from a wide range of disciplines across the UW-Madison campus. The event is free. Registration will open in mid-January.

The Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) combines academic, clinical, and research expertise from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) of the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. Founded in 2009, the ADRC receives funding from private, university, state, and national sources, including a National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging grant for Alzheimer’s Research Centers (P50-AG033514).
