UW–Madison Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is conducting a study to find out if an investigational smell test and eye images can be used to screen for Alzheimer’s disease.
Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) Participants Needed
You may be eligible if you are:
• 50-80 years old
• Have mild cognitive impairment (MCI) due to Alzheimer’s disease
• Have not had any serious nose or eye injuries, medical conditions, or surgeries
Study Participation
You will be asked to:
• Complete 1 screening questionnaire via telephone to see if you are eligible
• If eligible, complete 1 clinic visit, lasting approximately 2 hours to:
-Take 1 short cognitive test
-Take 1 standard clinical smell test, and 1 smell test using an investigational device
-Have non-invasive images taken of the back of your eyes
Participant Compensation
• You will receive a $50 VISA gift card for completing the study visit
• Please ask us if you need assistance with travel arrangements (local ground transportation)
