This study will try to see if performing tongue press exercises and using a saliva substitute improve swallowing ability in patients with memory problems and dysphagia.
Study Commitment
- Two on-site visits to University Hospital over the course of the 8-week study duration, as well as four 20-minute phone visits
- Participation in one of four study groups, which may require lingual strengthening treatment, use of saliva substitute, or both
Participation Eligibility
- 55-99 years of age
- Participant must have dementia or memory loss and experience difficulty swallowing
- Caregiver who is willing to participate in the study
