In early 2025, Barb Bendlin, PhD, will be a featured speaker as part of Crossroads of Ideas, a free public lecture series that addresses topics that matter to our community and are the subject of research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The talk is part of an exciting three-part mini-series focused on the gut-brain superhighway.

Bendlin and the Bendlin Lab study how gut microbes can play a critical role in overall health and links between the microbiome and neurodegeneration. As an Alzheimer’s disease researcher, Bendlin analyzes brain health trajectories through exercise, diet and gut microbiome and other modifiable risk factors.

In the third and final installment of the Microbiome Mini-series, Bendlin and Federico Rey, PhD, will discuss the many factors that can impact brain aging, with a special focus on the gut-brain connection and the role that the gut microbiome can have on brain health.
