In a new book, Geriatric Neurology, co-editors Sanjay Asthana, MD, and Steven T. DeKosky, MD, offer doctors, researchers, and advanced students comprehensive guidance on treating patients with age-related neurological changes and disease.

“The published book is among the first to bring the fields of geriatrics and neurology together targeting neurodegenerative disorders,” Asthana says.

Geriatric Neurology covers the topics in two parts. Section 1, “Foundations and Principles of Geriatric Neurology,” includes chapters on geriatric pharmacotherapy, cognitive evaluation in the elderly, chronic neurological disorders, cognitive reserve, and neuroimaging in aging and neurological disease. Section 2, “Neurological Disorders of Late-Life,” covers a wide range of topics from Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson disease to delirium, vascular cognitive impairment, and sleep disorders in aging and dementia. Publisher Elsevier lists the full chapter titles on its website.

Geriatric Neurology is Volume 167 of the Handbook of Clinical Neurology, a multivolume reference series that serves as a guide for clinicians and researchers working in neurology and related fields. The first volume was published in 1968, and since then the series has gained the reputation as an unparalleled source for the latest information on the field of neurological medicine.
