Ozioma Okonkwo, PhD, was quoted in a recent article in the Wisconsin State Journal about the SuperAging study at the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC). The article discusses the goals of the ongoing five-year study and highlights four super agers that are research participants.

The study looks at people identified as ‘super ager’s’ to identify the protective factors that contribute to remarkable memory performance in late life, including genetic, lifestyle and brain factors. The term ‘super ager’ refers to people aged 80 and older with the memory capacity typical of those 20 to 30 years younger. The study aims to enroll 100 people, including 60 super agers. To date, about two dozen people have signed up.
